Sanskrit Mantras are sacred sounds that resonate with the body’s energy system. At its core, Sanskrit Mantra is a tool to free the mind of negative thought. By chanting these mantras the vibration of the chanter’s energy becomes raised. This higher vibration can help promote healing, create abundance, and enhance spiritual growth. The oldest spiritual scriptures of Hinduism, the Vedas, contain mantras dating back to 2000 B.C. The mantras were first passed down orally from generation to generation. Later they were written on palm leaves to be preserved. The first “librarians” were families who dedicated themselves to cataloging the mantras by subject and application. Each mantra had a “seer” who tested the mantra for its purpose. Mantras were held in trust for ages in both India and Tibet. Sanskrit Mantra chanting is a complementary spiritual practice that can be used by people of all faiths and spiritual traditions. Darlene, founder of Sanskrit Spirit in Chicago, has been a teacher and practitioner of vibrational and energy healing modalities since 2002. With co-author Karen Daughtry, she created My Helpful Healing Touch: A Guide for Empowering Children. This book teaches the basics of energy healing to “children” of all ages. Darlene has studied with Namadeva Archarya, Thomas Ashley Farrand, one of the West’s leading authorities on the application of mantra. She is certified by Sanatana Dharma Satsang, a nonprofit organization that teaches and promotes meditation disciplines from the Vedic and Tibetan traditions.
