In the first several years, TIBETcenter exercised meticulous efforts to expand its broad-based grass-root outreach programs. Apart from Chicago and Evanston, it organized several Tibet-related programs at different venues, namely, Glencoe, Libertyville, Batavia, Naperville, Highland Park, Oak Park, Techy, Downers Grove, Wilmette, Oswego and Winnetka. Encouraged by the success of its programs, of late it has had been venturing on programming some events on a larger scale, such as, the Tibet Concert in 2007 at Harris Theater in Millennium Park, “Dance and Music from the Roof of the World” at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Northwestern University in 2008, followed by Tibet Film Festival at different venues.
Since our programs need to go, we will continue to lean on many of the great organizations in the Chicago area for spaces. It is also the right time to announce about the need to identify a suitable space of our own. Therefore, we are carrying on a series of special events to help build our BUILDING FUND with the help of our supporters.

Donations received in memory of Pat Bickett
Our long time supporter, Pat Bickett, passed away very unexpectedly. In her memory, her relatives, friends, and clients made donations to TIBETcenter, the total of which is $520.00. What better way for us to remember her than putting this money to our BUILDING FUND?
Ven. Tenzin Kacho’s talk and teaching
Emi Kiyosaki (Ven. Tenzin Kacho) gave a talk on “Rich Brother Rich Sister: Two Different Paths, which she co-authored with her brother Robert Kiyosaki, best selling author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. She also taught on “Eight Verses of Thought Transformation” and Guided Meditation on “Loving Kindness”.
$872.00 was raised which goes to our BUILDING FUND. Venerable Tenzin Kacho did not even want to accept her air fares, which we accepted gratefully and promised to work hard to further the laudable endeavors of TIBETcenter. She will return before long. We Tibetans are trained to work harder when gifts of money and time from the monastic are involved.
Donations of tickets for H.H. the Dalai Lama’s teaching/talks
Friends who were not able to attend H.H. the Dalai Lama’s teachings at Bloomington and public talk at Indianapolis were donated to TIBETcenter. We try to sell such donated tickets at cost or less or give away. $205.00 received for sale will go to oue BUILDING FUND. We gave away 2 tickets for the first day teaching in Bloomington, 1 ticket on the second day teaching, and 1 ticket for Public Talk in Indianapolis.
CHANAYO with Dr. Nakashima
About 48-50 people attended the CHANAYO, with 25-30 of them making a free-will donation. We received $661.00 (cash and 4 checks). Dr. Nakashima said she is always happy to be with the people coming to TIBETcenter programs. She would be happy to do another CHANAYO in a different way.
Dr. Nakashima was the first woman to receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, which is the highest civilian honor, in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan for her outstanding service as a cultural ambassador.
